Santa Ynez Ranch is home to small herds of sheep, goats and cows as well as a group of horses. Our sheep and goats graze the open areas to control the growth of brush. Our sheep are a vital part of our regenerative vineyard program. For the first 10 weeks of the year, they graze in between the vineyard rows, eat the cover crop and fertilize the land. Our two beloved livestock guardian dogs, Tank and Nashville, provide protection from predators.

In addition to 36 acres of vineyard, the team at Santa Ynez Ranch recently planted 1 acre of hops, which our local brewers at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. will utilize to brew small batches of local Santa Ynez beer. Our recently planted apple orchard will supply fruit for our organic craft cider production.
